Increased Risks of Remote Payment Processing

If you’re taking payments remotely, ensure you follow PCI’s recommendations.

The ongoing COVID-19 situation has led to a large number of people working from home, as we all prioritize the health and safety of our employees and customers. In light of this, the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) has sent a reminder of the additional potential risks associated with processing telephone-based payment card data.

If your business uses this type of processing, please review PCI’S recommendations for remote workers to ensure your business continues to maintain a culture of security. If you do not currently accept telephone-based transaction, we encourage you not to begin to do so, in order to avoid the increased risks associated with this type of transaction.
